Actin Art Intensive Residency in collaboration with the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Course theme: Re-discovering the place for artistic practices in times of biggest challenges.
ActInArt and Stúdíó Handbendi brought 40 students and culture professionals to Hvammstangi for an intensive course in May 2023. The group worked closely together to explore the topic of the place and form of artistic practices in today's world to be agents for social and artistic change. Social systems, including the cultural sector, work the way they do because of how we people are embedded in them. It is important to realise that a real system change comes from a personal journey that includes artistic growth and personal development, therefore, can be the basis of a greater change. By developing the professional, personal and interpersonal capacities necessary for participating as professionals in the cultural ecosystem, we can make meaningful progress towards the deep change around us. This intensive course offered students a framework to develop the skills necessary for deepening their artistic practices in alignment with the change and progress that the world needs now.
The course is organised by the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
