Our Shows

 Handbendi creates original puppetry productions which tour both nationally and internationally. Here are some of our productions which are available for national and international touring. Contact us for tech specs, marketing materials, and further information. 

Tomten

Kúrudagur

Tomten is our flagship show adapted from the classic Swedish poem of the same name.

The production premiered as part of the Little Angel Theatre's FIRSTS Festival in London in 2014 before touring extensively. Take a peak. We'll be bringing this one back out soon. Works best in theatre spaces.

Our best selling show for babies.  Kúrudagur  is also known as Duvet Day to our english speaking audiences.  This wonderful, and versatile,  production for the youngest of audiences
(0 - 3 years) tours globally and is the perfect addition to any festival. Our self contained, immersive set can travel to theatres, nurseries, libraries, and more.

Engi

​Tröll

Engi, also known as Meadow, was developed at Little Angel Theatre in London where it premiered in 2015.  The production has toured across the UK and Iceland to critical acclaim. A versatile show for theatres, alternative spaces, and even the open air. Engi was recently awarded the prize for best puppetry animation at the 31st International Puppetry Festival Valise in Lomza Poland. 

Búkolla

When the family cow goes missing it is up to a young boy to find her. Iceland's favourite folk tale is an epic story of friendship featuring a magic cow, mischievous trolls, and beautifully handcrafted puppets. This 20 minute show tours to schools, libraries,theatres, barns, community halls, tents, living rooms...you get the idea. Each show is accompanied by a 1 hour puppet making class. 

Sæhjarta

Sæhjarta is an original one woman show with puppets for adult audiences.

Tröll is an original story based on Icelandic folklore and settlement.  Developed in Hvammstangi , Tröll premiered at Samkomuhusið in Akureryri in February 2017. Tröll has finished 3 international tours, including a sell out run at the London Southbank Centre.

Form

Our brand new show for babies and nursery aged children. Form is an immersive theatre experience with dance, puppetry, and music exploring shape, sound, and how we construct the world around us. Available for touring from autumn 2022.  You can see some of our work in progress here.
