Iceland's favourite folktale – told by puppets.
When the family cow goes missing it is up to a young boy to find her. He journeys up mountains and through valleys, to the edge of the land where the sea beats against the hard cliff walls. What he discovers will change his life forever. A story of an epic friendship featuring a magic cow, mischievous trolls, and beautifully handcrafted puppets, Búkolla is one adventure not to be missed. Who knows.... you might even be asked to join in the show!
Búkolla performs regularly in the summer months at our homebase in Hvammstangi. In the autumn and spring the production tours to regionally to schools, nurseries, libraries, community halls, barns, and even living rooms. This versatile and engaging show is accompanied by a special puppet making workshop, where participants create their own characters to take home using natural and up-cycled materials found in the home and in the beautiful Icelandic countryside.
